MCHC Website
Inviting, Engaging & Inclusive History
The Maryland Center for History and Culture (MCHC) needed a website that could turn online visitors into in-person ones and showcase their impressive collection of artifacts. We responded with a dynamic, interactive design that encourages exploration. On exhibition pages, layered photos and detailed descriptions pull users in, while a unique garage-door footer reveals randomized artifacts, inviting visitors to dive deeper into Maryland’s rich history.

A Website for the Ages
Behind the scenes, we implemented WordPress to streamline content management, making it a cinch for MCHC to update content and events. To handle the massive amount of existing content, we used custom scripts to migrate hundreds of blog posts seamlessly. But our biggest challenge was creating a digital collection of MCHC’s artifacts, so researchers and curious minds could access them anywhere, anytime. We learned the ropes of digital asset management (DAM) and collaborated with MCHC on a categorization system that’s as intuitive as it is extensive. Now, visitors can filter through 13,000 pages, 6,000 images, and 800 PDFs to find exactly what they’re looking for—or stumble on something new.
