A New Way to Ride the Rails
The B&O Museum received a grant to provide virtual education and tours and asked Mission to redesign their website. The goal was to establish a fresh online presence that builds on a recent rebrand, as well as serve as a portal to engaging content. Drawing inspiration from railways and the connection they make, we developed an interactive website that bridges rail’s rich history with the world of tomorrow. As users scroll, white lines going down the center resemble train tracks. Flashing “lights” between content blocks resemble the railway crossing lights.

With ease-of-navigation front of mind, visitors can explore educational materials or plan a visit in just a few clicks. Their events calendar is completely custom programming and design. It supports both upcoming events and rental requests. It also incorporates the museum schedule, so it automatically blocks off days when they’re closed.
The B&O boasts a one-of-a-kind collection, so we developed a fun “collections” feature, where museum staff can catalogue and detail their stock of trains.
